This month's speaker is Samuel Z. Hyams of Hodel Wilks LLP.   Mr. Hyams represents clients in a wide variety of complex business pre-litigation and litigation matters, including contractual disputes, fraud actions, investment fund and commercial real estate litigation.

Topic:    California Rules regarding Trust Accounting in Law Firms

After the presentation, there will also be a discussion about what documents should be filed to establish a trust account, the requirements for how a trust account must be structured and managed, and the sort of liability that can occur if the rules are not followed.

 Professional Highlights
As a 2017 law school graduate, he is rapidly immersing himself into our firm’s complex business litigation practice. In early 2018 he was part of our team which tried a 17 day venture capital fund arbitration. As a law student, he was approved to handle a habeas corpus appeal in front of the United States Court of Appeals for the Ninth Circuit, where he appeared for oral argument.

In The Community
He is a member of the Orange County Bar Association and provides pro bono assistance to low income veterans through the Veterans Legal Institute.

Mr. Hyams graduated from the University of California, Irvine School of Law in 2017. While in law school, he was a lead article editor for the UC Irvine Law Review, and a competitor and board member for the Experian/Jones Day Moot Court Program. Mr. Hyams was also one of the founding members of the UCI Law Veterans Clinic, which provides legal services to low income veterans. Prior to attending law school, Mr. Hyams earned his bachelor’s degree from the University of California, Irvine where he graduated with honors. While in college, he was a member of UC Irvine’s NCAA Division 1 Track and Cross Country teams. As a collegiate athlete, Mr. Hyams competed twice at the NCAA Track and Field Championships and was named the 2013 UC Irvine Big West Male Scholar-Athlete of the Year.
