Please join us for this month's Human Resources Section Meeting, Ergonomics is part of your Wellness Program! Come and learn how to keep happy employees and while reducing workers' compensation risk.

Presentation:  Our speaker is Stefanie Nobriga, CAE. Stefanie will focus on user comfort and the importance of movement. We will discuss the following:

  • Inactivity Physiology Explained Simply
  • Ergonomic Injuries
  • Causes of Ergonomic Injury
  • Anthropometry
  • Ergonomic Risk Factors
  • Neutral Postures...
  • Non-Neutral or Awkward Postures
  • The steps to a self-assessment of your workstation to assure your workstation health.

Learning outcomes:

  • Better workstation health through self-assessment
  • General understanding of ergonomics and how to prevent injury at the workstation
  • Why, how and when you should move

Speaker Bio:

Stefanie Nobriga, CAE

Stefanie Nobriga has been in the workers' compensation industry since 1986.  She has been a loss control consultant for over 25 years specializing in ergonomics and wellness. She has extensive experience with the hotel industry, machine shops and guarding, corrugated box manufacturing, restaurants, schools and office settings.

She is also experienced in training on topics such as workplace harassment and workplace violence.  She served as an EEOC (Equal Employment Opportunity Counselor) for two years as well as on the Disability Advisory Committee for State Compensation Insurance Fund.

As graduate from California State Polytechnic University at Pomona in 1992 with a degree of Bachelors of Science in Business Management and Human Resources her degree compliments her work as a loss control consultant.  Stefanie is a professional member of the ASSE (American Society of Safety Engineers) and is a board Certified Associate Ergonomist (CAE) through the Oxford Research Institute. 

Stefanie has participated in the Assurex Wellness Committee since 2008.  Her achievements include numerous presentations for the American Society of Safety Engineers (ASSE, PDC), All State Compensation Insurance Funds (ASCIF), and the Ergonomic Roundtable, San Francisco Chapter.  Stefanie was also one of the first Loss Control Consultants in the nation to bring attention to benefits of integration of Wellness and Safety in the Workplace.

Besides her passion for safety, she enjoys teaching/sharing yoga.  Stefanie is AFAA/NASM certified (Aerobic and Fitness Association of America) and holds a level 5 yoga certificate through Yoga Fit.

CLM CreditCLM® Application Credit for Functional Specialists: 1 hour in the subject area of Human Resources Management (HR) towards the additional hours required of some Functional Specialists to fulfill the CLM application.
